Bitner & USA Strike Gold in Bolivia

Last week and over the weekend, Andrew Bitner of our own boys team was in Sucre, Bolivia.  He was one of 5 athletes chosen to represent the United States in the Jr. Pan American Games.

In addition to Andrew, the team consisted of Bennet Huang of Palo Alto, Calif./West Coast Olympic Gymnastics Academy, Vitaliy Guimaraes of Arvada, Colo./5280 Gymnastics, & Justin Ah Chow of Miami, Fla./Universal Gymnastics (some may remember Justin from his time here in Georgia at Roswell Gymnastics).  On Thursday, Team USA scored a 243.5 to win team gold. Brazil came in 2nd to win silver with a 241.645, and Mexico took the bronze with a 236.400.

Andrew also personally took home a bronze medal in the all-around with an 80.850 behind teammate Bennett Huang for silver with a 81.150, and Brazil's Actus Miranda captured the gold with 82.150 points.

Andrew also qualified to four event finals to be held over the weekend.  During those event finals Andrew claimed two more medals:  silver on the pommel horse and gold on the still rings.  It was definitely an auspicious beginning for his very first international competition.  But we feel very confident it will not be his last.

 Congratulations  on your success Andrew!

It is well-deserved!
